Due to the fine detail and individual scales on the two Rhino’s this painting took around 4 months to complete.
Stage one differs from the other paintings because the drawing was more detailed, each scale was painted in black so as not to loose their formation over the skin.
The next stage was to block in using watered-down acrylic colour to maintain the skin detail. The first time-consuming part of this painting was to detail each scale. The final process was to produce a sandy floor that consisted of thousands of dots. Finally, I added detail to their horns and skulls.

White Rhino Facts:
There are approximately 16,000 individuals left in the wild. The White Rhino can be found mostly in South Africa, with smaller translocated populations found in Kenya, Namibia, and Zimbabwe. White Rhinos are surprisingly agile and can run very fast, up to 40 km/h for short periods. They have poor eyesight, but acute senses of hearing and smell.
Adult males weigh between 1,800 and 2,500 kg and females 1,800-2,000 kg.
